Originally from Vista, California, Dr. Shannon Roberts is a nationally known composer, arranger, conductor, author, clinician, and music educator. He is the former Director of Bands at Weber State University where he was the director for the Marching & Pep Bands, Jazz Ensemble, and Symphonic Bands. He also taught music theory/composition, form and analysis, counterpoint and was the Area Head for Winds and Percussion students. Dr. Roberts is also an adjudicator for Heritage Music Festivals. He is a regular guest conductor for the New American Philharmonic Orchestra.  He also performs with and conducts many professional musical groups in Utah.

Dr “R.” loves golf, composing music, landscape painting, weight/sprint training, body surfing, travelling, scuba diving and has a passion for history & psychology. One of his loves is his corgi, Fiona.

 Before moving to Utah to pursue doctoral studies, Dr. Roberts was the Musical Director for Sea World of San Diego and a local studio musician and arranger. He taught high school and community college at several Southern California schools, was a Staff Arranger, Drum Major and Euphonium soloist with the United States Navy Band in San Diego and played Euphonium for the Disneyland Band.

While at Vista High School, he was a member of McDonald's All-American High School Band, the California State Honor Band, and California Boy's State. He was an SBO, Band President, Co-Captain of the Varsity Track Team and the starting left cornerback on the varsity football team.
