Sonja McKown has been a faculty member of Judge Memorial since 2001. She currently teaches Exploring Computer Science and JAVA Programming and moderates the Judge robotics team, Judgement Call.  

Ms. McKown was a college athlete. She played volleyball and softball for University of South Carolina. If she had not pursued a career in teaching, Ms. McKown believes she would have explored the field of engineering. She is particularly interested and inspired by the work of computer science pioneer and United States Navy rear admiral, Grace Hopper (Queen of software. who is known not only as a gifted programmer but also for her teaching skills. 

When Ms. McKown is not at school you may find her paddle boarding in the water, be it river, ocean, or pool.
