School Counseling

HERE FOR YOU

The School Counseling Center offers social/emotional, academic, college, and career counseling to all students. Counselors are available to meet with students and their parents on an individual basis.

Counselors help students:

  • Discover and maintain organizational strategies and study habits

  • Cope with personal, social, and emotional issues

  • Navigate the college application process

  • Explore post-secondary and career options

Our counselors work closely with the administration, faculty, and parents to help fully develop each student’s potential. Students are assigned to their counselor for four years and have the additional expertise of College Counselors. Parents are encouraged to notify counselors of any experiences or situations that may affect their student’s behavior, emotional health, or academic progress.

Academic Resources

Our counselors are here to help students in all their academic endeavors — study habits, time management, organizations. Navigating eight classes in high school is tough! No two schedules are alike and no two students are alike. Helping students find a system that works for them is an important step toward their success. Feeling confident, prepared, and on top of their work propels students upward and onward in their high school journey.

We encourage students to ask for assistance from counselors, faculty, and staff!

Student Resources

While much of the Judge Memorial experience remains deeply rooted in tradition, the types of learners who seek education have changed over the past 100 years. We are committed to supporting all students and learning styles. Therefore, we offer tiered supports both inside and outside of the class to foster the academic and behavioral development of our students. Our Learning Resource Center provides small group and individualized executive functioning skills intervention and support.

Further, we work with students and families to create student accommodation plans so that students can access tiered support in their core classes. Judge Memorial believes that all learners have a place here and we are dedicated to supporting students through their high school career.

Crisis Resources

Judge counselors are also here to aid during difficult times for students. Emotional crises, bullying, relationship problems, mental health, suicide-prevention issues, tragedies inside and outside of school. Our counselors can work directly with students, but also guide them and provide a number of resources to work with specific problems and issues.
